Vijayanagara Empire Legacy

About Me

Hi, I’m Dr. Priya Verma, and I’ve spent most of my life exploring the fascinating, complex, and rich history of ancient India. I’m a historian, researcher, and educator with a deep passion for uncovering the stories that have shaped this incredible land and its people. My journey into the past began with a Ph.D. in Ancient Indian History from the University of Delhi, and over the past 20+ years, I’ve been lucky enough to dive into everything from the ancient texts of the Vedic period to the incredible achievements of the Maurya and Gupta empires.

I believe history is more than just dates and events—it’s about the ideas, philosophies, and cultures that define who we are. From the bustling streets of Harappa to the peaceful teachings of ancient Indian philosophers, I’m fascinated by how the ancient world continues to influence us today. My work has always centered on bringing these narratives to life, whether through academic research, lectures, or simply sharing my findings with anyone who’s curious enough to listen.

This website, On Ancient India, is my attempt to make ancient Indian history accessible and engaging for everyone, whether you’re a history student, a curious traveler, or someone who just loves learning about the world. Here, I’ll share articles, stories, and insights that draw on both my research and the incredible artifacts and texts I’ve had the privilege to study. My hope is that, through this site, you’ll not only discover something new about India’s past but also find a sense of connection to the stories and ideas that have shaped the world.

History isn’t just something we look back on—it’s a conversation that continues. I invite you to be part of that conversation, to explore, question, and discover the ancient roots of one of the world’s oldest civilizations. You can reach out to me on priyaverma87@gmail.com for projects or collaborations.

Welcome to Ancient India. Let’s dive into the past, together.
